The development momentum of China's valve industry is strong, but against the backdrop of a favorable industrial situation, some issues are also worth worrying about, especially since domestic valve enterprises are mainly low-level, small-scale, and family workshop style enterprises. This is a significant limitation and bottleneck for the future development of China's valve industry.
Due to the late start of the domestic valve industry, China is still in the development stage and below the level of foreign countries. Many key valves still rely on imports, and many valves do not have core technology. Coupled with the limitations of automation control level, there is a certain gap in high-end valve technology compared to foreign countries. On the other hand, the competition in the valve market is becoming increasingly fierce, and the market for some low-end valve products has become saturated, resulting in a situation of oversupply. How to achieve stable development of the valve industry has become a difficult problem for valve manufacturers in China.
Currently, some enterprises in China that produce valves have reached a certain level. Although the overall level of China's valve industry has greatly improved, the quality is still not stable enough, such as running, emitting, dripping, and leaking, which often occur in domestic valves. In addition, there is still a certain gap in the matching ability of Chinese valves compared to foreign countries. The competition in the valve market is fierce, and the market for some low-end valve products has become saturated, resulting in a situation of oversupply, which makes the development of small and medium-sized enterprises increasingly difficult.
Even products with high technological content face fierce competition in the market. Currently, China is able to offer a variety of products in the valve market, such as heating valves, building valves, etc. However, in the high-end valve field, we still rely on imports, which is also an area where Chinese valves need to make breakthroughs in the future in order to truly promote the development of the Chinese valve industry.
But since last year, the road to localization of high-end valves has become increasingly difficult. The current basic components have become a shortcoming that restricts the development of domestic manufacturing towards high-end. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, China will further increase its efforts to localize high-end equipment components. The feasibility of valve import substitution varies greatly among different sub industries in China, and high-end valves urgently need more policy guidance and scientific research support.
The situation where the transformation and upgrading of the valve industry have not achieved significant results is due to various reasons. One of them is related to our past practices. We focused on product development but not on market research or industrialization. Specifically, it emphasizes technology over craftsmanship, and development over industrialization. Our product looks great on the surface, with both functionality and performance indicators achievable, but it doesn't take long for users to experience problems. Or the product itself can be used, but the manufacturing cost is high and lacks market competitiveness. Of course, the emergence of this situation is also related to our policy orientation. We have always focused on the quantity of achievements, solving the problem of existence and non existence first, filling many gaps, but we have not paid enough attention to promoting the achievements to the market and forming industrialization.
